Living There

Both you and your landlord are bound by both the terms of the lease and the law. If either of you breaks any terms of the lease, the law provides remedies that can be used to enforce the lease or end it.

Remember the terms of your lease even once you are living in the rented premises. Know how you are expected to act under the lease and the law, and what you should be able to expect from your landlord.

If you receive a notice of eviction, the notice must be valid under the law. In addition, if you receive a notice of eviction for alleged misconduct or for not paying rent, the law gives you an opportunity to respond.
