Offences under the Residential Tenancies Act - Tenant

It is an offence under the Act to

  • add or change locks without the permission of the landlord;
  • not make a key available to a landlord as soon as a lock is changed.

A person who commits an offence under the Act can be fined up to $5,000.

May 2005
