Abandoned GoodsIf you, the tenant, abandon your rented living place, you may have left behind some of your possessions. Some of these may be valuable.The Residential Tenancies Act defines abandoned goods as items which are left at the rented premises in three different situations:
The Act then goes on to set out rules for how the landlord is entitled to dispose of the items. If a collection agency or similar organization has already gone to court and received permission to seize your abandoned possessions, the rules for the landlord disposing of the abandoned property do not apply.
