When you are a student renting accommodation while you are going to school, there are many issues you will encounter. Some issues are governed by legislation while some may have been agreed upon between you and the landlord, or you and your roommates, or you and your academic institution in your tenancy agreement.
 

There are many Alberta laws that you should be aware of when you are making an agreement to rent property 

Issues like lease, security deposit and rent are all important when you are sharing an apartment or a house

Renting a room
and sharing living quarters with the owner of the house is not covered by the Residential Tenancies Act

There are people  you can talk to if you have questions or concerns about renting in Alberta
